I had an account for 6 years with Commerce Bank, the best there ‘was’. They ahd the best, most helpful, courteous staff in every branch.
Since TD took over, the staff at each branch became worse and worse, and I found more fees tagged on and more NSF returned checks. I didn’t know what they were doing so I closed my ckkg account.
I opened one up in the Credit Union where I had a savings acct for over 20 yrs.
BUT there, I eventually learned the credit union’s checking practices were illegal and costing me a lot of money.
CONCLUSION: Ask your bank what their Posting schedule is? Do they post deposits in real time (when the deposit is made) or only at certain times of day??
* Credit Union was NOT posting CASH deposits or CASH Transfers for days?
BUT they would still take in checks against it, returning them and charging me
NSF fees, even though I had made CASH deposits that they delayed posting!
>> Illegal <<
* When Credit Union started posting in real time, they found other ways to bounce my checks, and charge me; e.g.- taking several days to 'process' auto-WD's.
I found it impossible to calculate my available balance at any given day or time.
Even if I went to an ATM for a balance printout, it was only relevant for that minute in time. Too complicated and shady for me.
* I just closed that ckkg account too, and will move my savings out also.

Makes a HUGE difference in calculating your balance and forecasting any fees.

P.S.- Credit Union would not post my CASH Transfer on a Friday (from savings to ckkg – in same bank) until the following Monday. But they took in checks against my account, bounced them and charged me NSF fees too.
** That’s another thing to ask about a bank’s Posting Schedule practices.
